IQ are a neo-progressive rock band.
They have been around for decades, but never achieved the same commercial success as some other bands. As with all similar bands, their albums often have long tracks, and concept-based albums.
They have had a few changes in line-up, but quite a few musicians have been with the band for decades. One musician who left was Martin Orford, who played keyboards for quite a few of the earlier albums.
The Road of Bones is the name of the 'death road' which was built by those who were sent to the Russian gulags by Stalin - so named as it was 'literally' built on the bones of those who built it. Today it is the R504 Kolyma Highway in Siberia.
I'm also partial to the live version of a track called 'The Seventh House' - there are various versions online from different concerts which vary in tone.
