Aug 26: Abbey Road

A cross posting from my Geography on/in Film blog and Cultcha blog.

Images emerged last week from the filming of four new films by Sam Mendes. Each film will focus on one member of The Beatles.

It was a picture of the band crossing the famous Abbey Road level crossing.

This is a much copied image. The article mentions some other bands which have created their own versions for album covers.

For locals it is also a source of frustration as they are held up by lots of tourists recreating the scene for a picture. Caveat: I've done that myself...

Abbey Road is my son's favourite Beatles album. We listened to it recently while on a Kent road trip.

Feb 23: Album Cover Locations #4: Animals

OK, so I've already had a Pink Floyd album in this feature, but this is another iconic one.

For decades after this, the building (which is a power station) lay empty after it was decommissioned.  There were numerous plans for its redevelopment, but eventually money was raised for its redevelopment.

Here's an image of mine from 2015 when work was underway.

It's now finished and a high-end destination for shopping and entertainment. I recommend the beers and sausage rolls at the Brewery.

There was also the classic escape of an inflatable pig called Algie.

Jan 30: Album cover locations #3: The Beatles

So, this is an obvious one...

I think a lot of people will have visited this zebra crossing and recreated the scene. I went there in 2016, and have a picture of me somewhere....

I'm happy to add pictures of your visits and recreations... would be good to get a gallery of images.

Jan 20: Album cover locations #2: A Single Man

Through the year, I shall post some extra posts on some days with an image of an album cover.

The question is, what location is shown on the album cover?

Here's the second one.

Kudos to the first people to add the location of the album cover photo as accurately as possible in the comments.

Bonus points if you have recreated the album cover pose in the same exact location.

Jan 10: Album cover locations #1: A Momentary Lapse of Reason

Through the year, I shall post some extra posts on some days with an image of an album cover.

The question is, what location is shown on the album cover?

Here's the first one.

Kudos to the first people to add the location of the album cover photo as accurately as possible in the comments.

Bonus points if you have recreated the album cover pose in the same exact location or if you know more about the creation of this image.
