Jun 9: Musical encounters of the first kind #2

OK, so you have been sharing stories of your encounters with celebrities...

Meeting someone in person is a close encounter of the first kind....

A few more of my favourites from the ones that were sent in:

John W
I met Johnny Marr and turned into the biggest loser on the planet; I was sat next to Lee Mavers at a pub and never said a word all night, again i'm a proud resident of Losersville. And I had a drink with Jon Head from Shack and told him how I really liked his music after talking about teaching for 20 minutes.

Fiona
I met Pink in DisneyWorld Florida and we were in the same ride car together, didn't realise until after we got off!
Had my picture taken with her, I was 14/15 at the time.
Completely starstruck!
Whilst on my Flying Scholarship in Wellesbourne, Warwickshire, one of the flying instructors (not mine though) was in ELO - David Scott-Morgan

Ahh I know a few musicians but my favourite & most poignant was early November 2002, Mescaleros at the Leadmill - I was on the guest list because Joe's band leader at the time was Simon Stafford (ex Long-Pigs), an old mate.
After the gig I spent half an hour or so chatting with Joe (Strummer) over something we both had in common at that time - giving up smoking, and a bunch of other stuff - he invited me to join him at his Glastonbury camp next year.
Less than two months later Joe was dead.
